Top Ten Daily Tools

While working and sharing tips with others I have come to realize just how important some tools are to me. Some of these are not really tools, but without them I would certainly have gaps to fill in my work flow. They are not necessarily in any particular order. TextPad Firefox with FireBug extension. I really enjoyed the Darts for the iPhone game until I figured out how to throw a perfect dart every throw. I am not going to reveal this technique as I plan to email it to the developer for their review. Hopefully they will make the game a little more challenging in the future.

The Non Blogger

Gmail Canned Responses

Now this is a pretty useful addition to Gmail, Canned Responses. If you find yourself answering the same question over and over in Gmail, you can just add a canned response and then set a filter to handle who the response gets delivered to automatically. This is not the same thing as autoresponders, this is [...]

iGoogle Monitoring Social Networks

It seems sometimes the best solution is the easy one we overlooked. I have struggled to find the best way to monitor my social networks and communications. The 4 applications I have been trying to keep tabs on seamlessly are Twitter, FriendFeed, eMail (Gmail) and Google Talk. I liked some of the 3rd party offerings [...]

Wasted Year on Internet Marketing

This is basically the answer to the question I have been asked most recently, which is, “why have you sold some of your sites and quit working on other projects”. Well, I realized I have wasted about a year working with Internet Marketing, probably two if you consider the time I put in. A little [...]

Posterous Posting to Hosted WordPress

Now that was easy. I guess the downside is that you have to give your username and password to Posterous so they can post. But that seems to be something that is happening more and more as the "social networking" consumes the Internet workspace. The other downside is that any files you post in your [...]

Testing Posterous Blogging to Self Hosted WordPress

Well let’s see if this works. Posterous is supposed to post this on the blog that I defined, which in this case is CyberCoded.net. Here we go…… Posted by email from CyberCoder (posterous)

How to Get Free Web Hosting

Post Via Email On WordPress Blog

I have always been interested in this aspect of blogging but never took the time to slow down long enough to check it out. This post is being accomplished using the Post via Email options in WordPress 2.51 I am toying with lots of ideas where this could be very beneficial and I plan on [...]

Wifi at Home

Since moving into our new house, and just to be clear about this, it is not really new, just new to us. The reason that clarification is important is the fact that we are working hard first to cleanup and fix anything that we find that is not up to our expectations, and then we [...]

Redneck Google

Based on the fact that I have received some pretty mean spirited emails about my posts on Gothic Google and Emo Google I thought I should give equal coverage to those who I believe are sending those emails. And I will admit that Redneck Google (also known as Hoogle) looks to have a little more [...]

Digsby

I learned about Digsby on my Twitter account from KIntheHouse over at ShanKri-la. I am not going to do a full review since K did such a great job reviewing it for us. But I will say, so far I am very impressed. I downloaded and installed Digsby and had it up and running in [...]

Google Grandcentral

Google GrandCentral is now in Beta and allowing non invite registrations. There are several features of Google GrandCentral that make it stand out. You can now have a phone number that allows people to call you without them knowing your actual phone number, lets see, did that make sense? Let’s try it this way, One [...]

Micro Blogging

Steve Rubel at Micro Persuasion has a very interesting post about Web 2.0 Trends and one of the graphics he uses is this chart from Google Trends comparing Twitter to Blogging. That chart really got my attention. I had no idea that Twitter was that popular, or that the term Micro Blogging was coming into [...]

Beyond your Niche

It is easy to get tunnel vision when working. One thing to remember is there is a lot going on out there beyond your Niche and it is beneficial to be proactive. Years ago I worked in retail as a district manager. We had stores in malls and I had a simple rule for employees. [...]

Micro Niche Finder Update

I use it on a daily basis and highly recommend it to anyone who is blogging or researching search trends on the Internet. Plan your Blog, Blog your Plan

Same theory, different words. For years I have listened to business consultants say “Plan your work, work your plan”. A blog is no different. You just have to decide what it is you want to accomplish. Some bloggers just want people reading their blog, others want to make money blogging. Whatever the goal, managing your [...]

Google Alerts

Most bloggers I talk to subscribe to a lot of feeds. Subscribing to feeds will definitely help keep you up to date with what your favorite bloggers have to say. I like to also keep up with specific topics. These topics range from my own domain names to my kids. And there is one tool [...]

Making Money Online

Garry over at GarryConn.com has an excellent post (er rant) about making money online with Adsense. IMHO, he hits a home run with this post. One additional tip I would throw in there is where to get good content for your target audience. Quit looking at the other bloggers, and look around your family and [...]

Welcome

Welcome to my online world. I can not say exactly where I plan this blog to go. I have started at least 10 other blogs and have been all over the map on subject matter. The fact is that I am an online junkie. I spend the majority of any free time I have surfing, [...]
