Digsby

I learned about Digsby on my Twitter account from KIntheHouse over at ShanKri-la.

I am not going to do a full review since K did such a great job reviewing it for us. But I will say, so far I am very impressed. I downloaded and installed Digsby and had it up and running in just a few minutes. The biggest feature for me is the ability to see, read and mark my email without loading the Gmail web page, now that is a big time saver.

Make sure to check out K’s full review of Digsby and give Digsby a try!

  1. Hey, thanks for the link love! 🙂 I have thank Garry for prompting me to review it. I might have waited a little longer to do it if he hadn’t asked me. Twitter rocks!

  2. Your welcome, I thought your review was excellent. And I am also enjoying Twitter again after a long lapse thanks to Garry!

  3. I’ve seen this on stumble twice now (on blogs).

Are there any advantages over Pidgin? Pidgin supports Linux and Mac OSX (unlike Digsby) and seems to support everything Digsby does.

It’s not open source either, which is a major turn-off.

  4. @Will, that is the first I have heard of Pidgin, I will certainly check it out.

I know of one person who can not run Digsby due to Linux.

That might be an indication that Pidgin needs more marketing?

  5. Will, Pidgin is an excellent program, no doubt! I just can’t get it to work from behind my work firewall. Again, Digsby works for Google & Yahoo IM & Gmail but no Twitter love at work either. Probably some of the ports used by it are blocked. Now, that’s on Linux and for an average Windows user we know how much a software being ‘Open Source’ really means to them. Not a whole lot. (coming from a person who loves and promotes open source as much as he can)

But, on Windows Vista (my wife’s laptop) I’ve to admit Digsby looks really slick and the way I can archive, spam, mark as read, delete, compose or go to inbox right from the notification bar is priceless.

David, thanks for remembering the problems I mentioned and the tweet! 🙂 Sorry about the long comment.
