Namecheap is at it again. Hosting a new Twitter Contest called Namecheap Bored at Work and Back to School Riddle Me This Contest!.

Namecheap is giving away 3 MacBook Pro, 1 Apple iPad, or 1 Amazon Kindle.

The contest is very similar to their past contests. This time the contest is made of riddles instead of trivia questions. Each hour they post a Riddle and you respond with the answer. Each hour they give away 5 domain registration credits to their system.

Currently I have around 4,950 followers on Twitter. To celebrate the milestone of 5,000 followers, I am going to give away a Domain Name to my 5,000th follower. If there is any doubt to who the 5,000 follower is, I will use the Twitter API to decide the actual winner.

I will use @NameCheap to register the name for the winner and push it to their NameCheap account.

NameCheap Twitter Contest

NameCheap has come up with a pretty cool contest using Twitter. They are giving away $17,000 worth of domain and domain transfers and getting people involved is a key element to branding.

The contest also has an interesting verification system integrated with their website and this could be a good lesson for other companies.

I have been a Namecheap customer for a couple years and look forward to winning a some of this!

Domain Name Search Engine

I have found a couple helpful Domain Name Search Engines.

What I look for is a system that will let me key in keywords and it will find Available Domain Names with those keywords. Two such Domain Name Search Engines I found do a good job of giving results, even if the results are not exactly what I am looking for sometimes they can help me see some combinations I would not have thought of.

NameDroppers.com and DomainsBot.com are very similar and both are worth a try.

Just type in some keywords and let them show you Registered and Available Domain Names.

If nothing else, a Domain Name Search Engine can be a lot of fun to see what type of names people have chosen. Trust me, if you think a name is too bizarre, it is probably already taken.

I think this has to be the number one way to know that you own too many domain names, or you are just a real geek.

You get an idea for a Domain Name, and that leads you to do a Domain Names Search.

In the process you find out that the Domain Name is already owned, which really brings you down, until you look at the whois record and realize that you already own it.

Please tell me that someone else has had this happen to them, please…..
