The eBay plugin is very simple but effective. Once installed you input your EbayNetwork Campaign number into the settings, and how many ads you want to appear on each post.

Place the code <?php cybersebay(); ?> within the WordPress loop and you are set.

The first time you use the plugin you will add a Custom Field to your post with the Key name, ebay. And use the value to hold the keyword for this post to import eBay ads. From here on out, whenever you write a post, you can select the custom field key, ebay from the pulldown list and add the keyword you wish to show listings for.

Below is an example from another site. The article is titled “Fun Stocking Stuffers” and the keyword for eBay is “Christmas Stocking Stuffers”

During my testing of the plugin I received a $27 click, and that is certainly the highest valued click I have ever received !

Here is an example of how the Blogroll Pulldown looks on her site.

Of course the first thing I always do is search for an existing WordPress Plugin or Function. While doing this search I came across The Information Gateway blog which has a post about just such a function to add a dropdown blogroll. I tried the code TIG has posted but there was a small problem with it, so I modified the code to get it working.

My revised code is available here, simply add the function to your themes function file, and make the appropriate call as outlined in the code.

To solve this problem you can clean out the RSS Hash entries using a plugin such as Clean Options. This plugin will also help you find and remove all those Orphaned records created by plugins that do not remove their own entries.

To stop Magpie from creating these entries in the future you can disable Magpie Cache by inserting the following into your WordPress Theme function file.

I had used eBay as an affiliate before but with very little success. And I have heard all sorts of stories about some of the eBay Scripts and plugins on WordPress sites being very troublesome and causing problems with search engine indexing. This is basically why I put together the Cybers Ebay WordPress Plugin. So far, I have been thrilled with the results.

One of the issues I see with other systems is that they are trying to make an entire site out of a script and that could spell trouble, very little content, and even less original content.

Using a WordPress Plugin for something like eBay gives you the chance to add a nice income stream to a site. It can also help to drive traffic if it does not smother the site with it’s pages.

If you have not tried the eBayPartnerNetwork I would highly recommend it regardless of what script you use.

• Change the word count for the excerpt
• Set a custom word count by page type, such as, Index, Archive, Tag, Category or Search Results.
• Applies a more link at the end of each post that includes the Title.

Here is an example of the transformation from full content to a custom CybersExcerpt on a Home Page.

This first image is of a post with the standard full content displaying for each post on the home page. This style takes up a lot of room on the main page and gives the reader the exact duplicate content that will appear on the Post page.

Using the standard Excerpt can be very helpful in reducing the size and duplicate content on a site. Notice that the formatting is off a little as the Excerpt does not handle the paragraph and breaks very well, and there is no link to read more at the bottom of the post. The Standard length is 55 words.

Here is the same page formatted with the Cybe Excerpt. The default length is 50 words but can be easily changed in the Settings option within WordPress without changing any code. Also notice that we have taken care of the paragraph and break formatting to give the excerpt and much cleaner look. And last, but not least, there is a link at the bottom of the post to direct the reader to the full post.

So what happened?

Someone emailed me and confirmed an idea I already was thinking about, and that sent me on a 2 day programming project, lol. So here it is Sunday night, the WordPress Plugin and WordPress Theme  I was working  on all weekend are done, but I did not get any of my blogging caught up.

For me, it comes down to enjoying the developing side of the blogs and sites more than the writing side, but that sure makes it hard to keep a site up to date.

The first theme is just an Empty WordPress Theme. This may seem a little silly, but you would be surprised at how many people want this to learn from.

The second theme is a Minimal WordPress Theme that may not be the most beautiful theme you can find, but it is very functional and does very well on Niche sites where the primary focus is driving traffic from search engines and converting that traffic into income.

To catch this bug before it causes an unexpected problem you should check each plugin immediately after running an upgrade. Simply click the Edit button next to Deactivate, scroll to the very bottom of the file and make sure there is no whitespace at the end of the file. If there is whitespace, simply delete it, and save the plugin. See example images

If you do not check your plugins this bug can become a real pain. The main reason is that once it occurs you have no idea if it is in the WordPress PHP, Plugins or Theme files.
