At first glance this might seem odd, but, this is actually more of what is expected to come from companies and especially those that are in the consumer spotlight.
Wal-Mart has a new blog, Check Out (really, that’s the name of it).
The site is authored by several Wal-Mart employees and seems to have a nice start. Some of the post are simply information rehashed, others are obviously thought out posts by the author.
One of the nice touches is the Authors listed in the sidebar with a picture and what they write about. Each author also has a short bio.
One of the interesting aspects of this type of blog is that it does not need any type of monetization. And they should be able to drive their own traffic from other sites easily. Another interesting lesson learned here is that Wal-Mart has a few other specialty sites, check out the Resource page.
